Mattapoisett Garden Group plants around town

May 31, 2021

MATTAPOISETT — A theme of red, white and blue drove the Mattapoisett Garden Group as they planted flowers around town ahead of Memorial Day on May 26.

Some gardeners dispersed to spots around town, while others filled planters and gardens on the library grounds. Volunteers helped beautify the pots at the Mattapoisett Historical Society and Town Hall, window boxes at the post office and Town Beach house, the lighthouse garden at the harbor and the gardens and planters at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library.

Many gardeners were new to the group this year and a couple were new to gardening: Maureen Kelly, Bethany (and two-year-old Leo) Couto, Ruth Ann Walega, Carole Clifford, Judy Sullivan and Lois Gallant.
