Mattapoisett Land Trust celebrates 40th anniversary

May 8, 2014

To recognize its 40th anniversary and to honor its founders, the Mattapoisett Land Trust dedicated a new monument in a ceremony on Saturday.

Located at the entrance to the town wharf, on a corner of the trust's Munro parcel, a bronze plaque lists the names of the 10 men and women who founded the trust in 1974.

On Tuesday, workers from Tootell Monument Works in New Bedford prepared the surface of the boulder that will carry the plaque and also sandblasted the outline of a heron, the MLT logo, onto the rock face.
