MATTAPOISETT — Shipyard Park isn’t Rockefeller Center but it needs a Christmas Tree all the same. 

The Mattapoisett Highway Department has put out an open call for any Mattapoisett residents who have Christmas tree that they would like to donate to be displayed at Shipyard Park for the town’s tree lighting.

According to Mattapoisett Highway Surveyor Garrett Bauer, the town isn’t looking for anything “too huge.”

Anyone interested in donating their tree can contact the Mattapoisett Highway Department at 508-758-4181.

“Please reach out to the Highway Department so that we can set up an inspection [and] make sure its not too big, not too small, that it’s a well-rounded tree,” said Bauer.

This year’s tree lighting will be held at Mattapoisett’s Holiday in the Park on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 3 to 5 p.m.
