New cafe and bakery coming to Mattapoisett
MATTAPOISETT — Resident Vanessa DosSantos presented a plan for her new bakery and cafe, Eden Coffee and Bakery, to the Mattapoisett Select Board on Tuesday, March 10.
DosSantos is planning to open the cafe where Poi Market was located at 33 County Road. She needed to receive a permit from the Select Board to serve and prepare food.
She presented her store layout to the board and said she will not be expanding the space or breaking any walls, but will be adding partitions for the kitchen area.
Select Board Chair Tyler Macallister reminded DosSantos she will need to do walkthrough inspections with the fire department, board of health and building inspector soon.
DosSantos said the building is already underway and she wants to open on April 1. She also said that Gail Joseph, the health agent of the Mattapoisett Board of Health, approved her plans.
Macallister and Select Board member Jodi Bauer granted DosSantos the permit and were excited about the business.
Macallister asked DosSantos to send an announcement of her opening dates to the town so they can post it.
“We'd love to support new businesses and we wish you the best of luck,” Macallister said.
