ORR student earns $1,000 scholarship from First Citizens' Federal Credit Union
Old Rochester Regional High School student Callie Gomes was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union 22nd Annual Academic Scholarship Program. The scholarships were awarded to 14 local high school students from across the South Coast and Cape Cod.
Each scholarship is awarded to deserving students every year who demonstrated a high level of academic excellence, leadership, and service to their community. In addition to the 10 general scholarships, one scholarship, in honor of Barbara Whitehead Silva, former President and CEO of the credit union, is awarded.
The remaining three scholarships are the Champion Family Scholarship. The Champion Account is designed to recognize teachers, EMT, police, firefighters and healthcare professionals for their outstanding service to our communities. The three scholarships are awarded exclusively to the immediate family of these members.
“These students have excelled both academically and through their community engagement” said Peter Muise, president and CEO. “We’re honored to enable them to continue into the next phase of their educational pursuits.”
