Owner sells Lloyd's Market, no changes planned

Aug 26, 2016

Lloyd’s Market has been sold to regional grocery store and gas station chain New England Farms, but the current owner Matthew Beaulieu insists nothing will change at the beloved corner market.

The sale is expected to be final sometime next month.

Rochester Selectmen mentioned the change in ownership at their Aug. 22 meeting after scheduling a public hearing for a liquor license transfer request for the store. That hearing will take place on Sept. 19.

Beaulieu declined to comment until the sale is final, but did say there was “no reason in particular” that he decided to sell the store, just that it was “a great opportunity for my wife and I.”

According to a Facebook post on the market’s page, there are no plans for any changes to the store. New England Farms will own the business and its property, but “they will not be running it.”

The post also clarified that there will not be a gas station added to the market.
