Party like it’s 1776 at Rochester block party

ROCHESTER — The Rochester Council on Aging will hold its annual block party Saturday, Sept. 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., bringing together the community for fun, food and a fuzzy mascot.

COA Director Eric Poulin said the day will have something for everyone, and will be particularly special as the town celebrates the country’s 250th birthday.

Several community organizations, including the Scouts, New England Rodeo and 4H club will have tables at the event. There will also be a DJ, colonial games, vendors and food for sale. 

Wally the Green Monster, the Boston Red Sox mascot, will visit from noon to 2 p.m. 

The event also celebrates National Good Neighbor Day, and Poulin said he’s “hoping to get all our neighbors together to celebrate.”

He said the event has been a way to bring people of many ages together and strengthen ties in the community.

“I know it's called a Council on Aging, but we have really tried to make this place in the last five years a place for the whole community,” he said. “We want people to bring the kids, bring the grandkids and come have a fun time down here.”

The party is free to attend, and free parking is also available.
