Police manhunt for Rochester resident continues
ROCHESTER — 38-year-old Rochester resident Andrew Thatcher is wanted by the Rochester Police Department after fleeing court early a few weeks ago.
Thatcher is wanted for the following charges: Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle and a Marked Lanes violation.
According to Rochester Police Chief Michael Assad, Thatcher left court after being charged with the offenses. He violated his probation and has not been seen since.
Residents are asked to contact the Rochester Police Department at 508-763-5112 if they have seen Thatcher or know where he might be staying.
“If [anyone] sees him, obviously give [the police] a call to help us out. Our biggest help is the community,” said Assad.
The Rochester Police Department wants to remind residents to not chase, confront or offer Thatcher a ride out of town.
Thatcher has a previous criminal record and now faces state prison time without bail until his next court appointment.
“We really appreciate the community support because without the community we couldn't effectively do our jobs. The police are the community and the community are the police,” said Assad.
