ROCHESTER — The Council on Aging hosted a Veterans Day ham and bean dinner attended by more than 80 people on Nov. 5.
The dinner recognized all veterans, but gave a special honor to Gordon Helme, a member of the Senior Center Board of Directors who has also served as the Veterans Agent and Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Elders volunteer. Helme served in the Navy until 1971.
The Rochester Boy Scout Troop 31 Color Guard presented colors at an opening flag ceremony. Color Guard Team members included Eagle Scout Colin Mackin, First Class Quinn Thompson, Life Scout Robbie Nordahl and Life Scout Tyler Souza.
