The Rochester Board of Selectmen approved an extension of the Rochester-Marion Water Agreement at Tuesday night’s meeting.

“It’s been a long time coming,” Rochester Water Commission Fred Underhill said. “It’s good to have it done.”

Selectman Brad Morse said the agreement didn’t have any big changes from the previous iteration.

The agreement states that the two towns have “a long history of mutual beneficial agreements regarding Marion’s acquisition and development of a public water supply system within Rochester.”

Marion officials have the right to enter Rochester lands to search for water sources and water supply, and can complete any surveys and testings within the area as well.
In return, Rochester residents have the right, at their own cost, to be connected into the water lines established by Marion.

Once signed by all parties, the agreement will be good for 20 years.

“Thank you for your hard perseverance,” Morse said to Underhill.”
