Rochester Senior Center seeks volunteers, board members

ROCHESTER — The Rochester Senior Center is looking for volunteers to help make and serve breakfast at “Ye Olde Breakfast Shoppe” on weekday mornings. In addition, the Senior Center is  looking for part-time van drivers. Contact the Senior Center for details.

The Council on Aging Board is also looking for volunteers for the Advisory Council. The council is responsible for implementing the COA’s ongoing Program Evaluation Plan. Applications for the Advisory Council are available at the Senior Center.

The Rochester COA Board of Directors meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 9 a.m. at Rochester Town Hall. All Rochester residents are welcome to attend this meeting. The COA Board of Directors is accepting applications for new board members. Applicants should be Rochester residents, and active Senior Center participants. Board members advocate for and serve the needs and interests of Rochester older adults. This commitment is usually a few hours each month. The Greater Boston Food Bank Free Commodity Food monthly distribution at the Rochester Senior Center is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 13 from noon  to 4 p.m. Seniors who participate in this program must pick up items in person unless other arrangements have been made. The Senior Center will not store food items after Nov. 13. Seniors who are interested in participating should contact the Director or the Outreach Worker at the Senior Center.

The Senior Center has a trip to Casselberry Faire at the Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington onThursday, Nov. 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:40 p.m. It will also take a trip to Pheasant Lane Mall and Merrimack Valley Premium Outlets on Nov. 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:40 p.m. The COA will provide transportation to the Old Rochester Regional Junior High School for a Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday, Nov. 24.

The Senior Center provides free transportation for Rochester residents. Call the COA for a ride with one of its drivers at least 24 hours in advance. Contact the Senior Center at 508-763-8723 for more information.
