The New England U10 tennis team captured its first-ever tournament win at the United States Tennis Association’s Northeast Capital Clash in Maryland on Columbus Day weekend.

Rochester resident Brooklyn Bindas, 10, was a member of that winning team, which consisted of the top four girls and top four boys at that age level in New England.

After the tournament finished, there was a tie between the New England region and the Eastern region teams. A 10-point mixed doubles tiebreaker was used to determine the winner.

The tournament also served as a development camp for the tennis players.

Bindas began playing tennis just two years ago and caught on quickly. She regularly plays with kids older than her, and is ranked 38 for 12U and 134 and 14U in New England.
