Rochester Zoning Board of Appeals Chairman Richard Manning, Jr. offered his letter of resignation today to the Board of Selectmen citing frustration with and lack of cooperation from Town Clerk Naida Parker.

"As a volunteer member of this board for over a decade, I am completely frustrated by the lack of cooperation and the apathy of this paid town employee," wrote Manning.

"Mr. Manning has served on several boards for a good number of years and has never had an issue being sworn in," said Parker.

Parker's position as Town Clerk is an elected, part-time position and pays $20,000 a year.

"It is grossly unfair of Mr. Manning to expect me to cater to him," said Parker. "If I do this for one board, I have to be prepared to do this for every board and committee in this town and am not prepared to do that in a part-time office."

Manning urged the Board of Selectmen to find a replacement for him as soon as possible. His correspondence will be addressed at the upcoming Selectmen's meeting on August 22.

In addition to being Town Clerk, Parker also sits on the Board of Selectmen.
