Science fun for families

Jun 19, 2014

The tri-town libraries are offering several science programs for children ages 3 through 9 in each of the town library locations. The Mattapoisett Free Public Library will host programs on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 24 and 25 from 6 to 7 p.m., and on Saturday, June 28 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

These free programs will focus on science, technology, engineering and/or math, featuring interactive activities for children and their parents. For each session, there will be a take home activity so families can continue exploring the topic together.

The programs will explore problem solving together using observation skills, conducting experiments, measuring results and sharing discoveries. These simple but fun and lively activities promote STEM hands-on exploration.

Thanks to a grant to all three local libraries by the Coordinated Family and Community Education Program of the Old Rochester Regional School District and funding from the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care's Coordinated Family and Community Engagement Grant, local children and their families are able to participate in this opportunity.

Registration is suggested. Stop by the Mattapoisett Library at 7 Barstow Street, or call 508-758-4171 and speak with the children's room staff.
