Scouts to put their cars to the test

Feb 7, 2019

MARION — Cub Scouts from Kindergarten to fifth grade have built their pinewood derby cars and are ready to see whose is the fastest. Then, on Sunday, the cub scout weekend will continue as they heading to St. Gabriel’s for a special service on Sunday.

The Marion Pack 32 Cub Scouts will run their semi-annual Pinewood Derby on Saturday Feb. 9 at the Marion First Congregational Church Hall, at the back of the General Store parking lot. Weigh in for the event begins at 8:30 a.m. and the races start at 9 a.m.  The top 3 finishers may move on to the regional races.

Though the fastest cars will be awarded, prizes will also be awarded for the best Pack 32 spirit, the car most likely built completely by a Scout, and for a car of the judges’ choice.

On Feb. 10 at 10 a.m. the Pack will participate in St Gabriel's Episcopal Church special Scout Sunday Service.  Scout Sunday is designed to recognize the contributions of young people and adults to Scouting.  Reverend Geoffrey Piper leads an amazing service that is welcoming to all.  All Scouts are welcome to join this inspiring service.
