Talk June 17 on history of gardens

Jun 10, 2022

MARION — The Sippican Historical Society and the Marion Garden Group will present a discussion on Women and Gardens at 7 p.m. Friday, June 17 at Marion Music Hall, 164 Front St.

English garden historian and designer Marion Mako will discuss some of the characters who have created gardens throughout history and their legacies today.

Mako co-authored two books about the counties of Cheshire and Somerset, as part of the series “The Historic Gardens of England,’’ and has led a variety of garden tours in the UK and Europe. She is a volunteer and trustee for the Painswick Rococo Garden in Gloucestershire, and 2021 saw her debut on PBS America’s “A Short History of the English Garden."

There is no charge for the presentation but donations will be accepted to offset the speaker’s fee and support the work of the historical society.
