Thursday, July 8

Meet alpacas at the library 

The Elizabeth Taber Library will host Pine Meadows alpaca farm at 1 p.m. for a children’s zoo. Meet alpacas, goats, a bearded dragon, tortoises, chinchillas, rabbits and more. The event will take place at the library.

 

Friday, July 9

See a community center art show

From 5 to 7 p.m., there will be an art show reception at the Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center. The show will feature “The Artisans of Dexter Beach,” amateur and professional artists including talented wood workers, photographers and hand work, fiber, sea glass mosaics and watercolor artists. The work will be on display throughout July. 

 

See the Marion Concert Band

At 7 p.m. at the Marion Island Wharf Bandstand, the Marion Concert Band will continue its Friday evening concert series with a program of music inspired by the sea.  All concerts are free and open to the public.  Follow the Marion Town Band on Facebook for up-to-date announcements and rain cancellation notices.

 

Saturday, July 10

Browse Arts in the Park

The Marion Art Center’s Arts in the Park festival returns with over 40 local artists and artisans. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday with a rain date scheduled for Sunday, July 11.

Vendors will be selling a wide variety of items including baskets, ceramics, clothing, glass, woodworking, paintings, photography, and more.

Lunch will be available from the Oxford Creamery “Oxcart.”

The event will feature live music from Yesterday’s Country, a free kids’ craft activity, and a raffle of prizes including one original piece from each vendor.

Featured artists in the MAC booth include Christy Gunnels, Heide Hallemeier, and David Maloney.

Tuesday, July 13

Make a mandala

“Good Grief” author Dannie Engwert will host a mandala workshop at Elizabeth Taber Library at 6:30 p.m. Design your own found object mandalas and take home a photographic keepsake of your creations. This is an outdoor program at the library for teens and adults.

 

See a magic show

At 1 p.m. at the Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center, there will be a magic show put on by Jack Ryan, featuring sophisticated tricks and humor. 

 

Play bingo

On July 13 at 6:30 p.m., there will be a family bingo night on the library lawn (weather permitting). All ages welcome, and no registration is required.
