Update: Body identified as missing Wareham man
A body found on a Mattapoisett beach on Saturday, April 13, is that of 39-year-old Parkwood resident Scott J. Kilroe, the Medical Examiner's Office has told Mattapoisett Police.
Kilroe was last seen on February 12. There were no signs of foul play at Kilroe's Parkwood Drive home, and his car was parked in the driveway, Wareham Police said.
Mattapoisett Police Chief Mary Lyons reported that the body was discovered by a couple walking on the beach off of Hollywoods Road in Mattapoisett at approximately 3:10 p.m. on Saturday, and that it appeared to have been in the water for several weeks.
Mattapoisett Sgt. Robert Boivin and Detective Craig Leblanc are investigating, along with detectives from the State Police.
The Wareham Fire Department Dive Team and the Massachusetts State Police Underwater Recovery Unit were in the water near Wareham's Tempest Knob boat ramp, searching for Kilroe, as recently as April 10.
