UPDATE: Marion man arrested for March 13 stabbing

Mar 17, 2016

Peter G. Rezendes, 28, of Marion, was arrested Wednesday for the stabbing of a man in Onset on March 13, according to the Wareham Police Department.

Police said officers from the Barnstable Police Department encountered Rezendes in an unrelated incident in Barnstable on Wednesday evening around 7 p.m. They said Rezendes was arrested without incident.

The 39-year-old victim of the stabbing is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery, police said. However, on March 13, he was in critical condition after being stabbed multiple times outside Stephen's Lounge in Onset following a quarrel.

Police said the victim arrived at Tobey Hospital around 12:30 a.m. in critical condition and was taken via Med-Flight to a Boston area hospital.

Rezendes has been arrested by the Wareham Police Department before. In 2012, he was arrested with two others for allegedly being involved in an armed robbery.

Rezendes was arraigned Thursday at the Wareham District Court on the criminal charge of assault with intent to murder.
