Visitors find holiday houses 'charming'

Dec 10, 2016

The Sippican Woman's Club's 30th annual Holiday House Tour featured a variety of homes decked out for the Christmas season.

“I've thought all the houses were very charming this year,” said tour-goer Kym Lee.

Her friend chimed in, “No two are alike.”

The houses were located in the Village, Indian Cove and along Converse Road.

At 1 Holly Pond Road, many were amused by the collection of Noah's ark artwork and enjoyed the warmth of the “great room.”

Said, Woman's Club member Eileen Merlino, “It's homey. You feel comfortable in it.”

At the Indian Cove home of Maura and Steve Lohrenz, the owners were on hand to talk about their post-and-beam home built in 1986.

Maura Lohrenz said the home has a lot of New Orleans artwork and accents because the couple spent 25 years there before moving to Marion.

As a kid, Lohrenz said her mother enjoyed hosting tours at their home, and she was excited to follow in her mom's footsteps when a member of the Woman's Club asked her to include their home on the tour.

“I felt it was an honor,” she said.

“I'm happy if she's happy,” quipped Steve.

Bunny Mogilnicki of Bunny's Bouquet decorated the Lohrenz's house for the holidays as well as a home on South Street.

“I enjoyed both of them,” said Mogilnicki. “It was very Christmas and festive.”

In addition to five houses, the tour also included a tea at St. Gabriel's Church.
