Wareham man arrested in Mattapoisett robbery

On Wednesday Feb. 6 at approximately 1:17 p.m. the Mattapoisett Police Department received a report of a break in in progress. The homeowner arrived home and was confronted by a person in his home. 

The suspect immediately fled from the residence with several items, running south on Brandt Island Rd. 

The Mattapoisett Police and Fairhaven Police set up a secure perimeter around the area.  Shortly thereafter, Detective Craig LeBlanc observed a man matching the description walking at the edge of the woods off Brandt lsland Rd.

After a brief search the suspect, identified as Maxx Phillips, age 30, of Wareham, was arrested. The Mattapoisett Police later executed a search warrant on a residence in Mattapoisett and all of the stolen property was recovered.

Plymouth County K9 and Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted the Mattapoisett Police with the investigation.

Phillips was charged with breaking and entering, vandalism, and larceny over $1,200. He was set to appear in the Wareham District Court on Thursday for arraignment.
