Mattapoisett police recognized for helping family
Selectmen honored police officers Lenira Lima and Brett Osetkowski on Tuesday night for going beyond the call of duty early Christmas morning.
The two officers responded to a house on Mechanic Street for report of a water leak and while investigating the scene, they heard a carbon monoxide alarm in a house.
The officers woke up the household and the home was inspected. The family was OK and firefighters ventilated the house, but the levels of carbon monoxide were dangerous.
“It could have been a pretty bad Christmas morning for the people in that house,” said Selectman and firefighter Jordan Collyer, who responded to the incident. “I want to thank you for your quick work…going above and beyond as you always do.”
Officers Lima and Osetkowski received certificates of appreciation from Selectmen.
