New Bedford woes halt progress on Lebanese Kitchen in Mattapoisett

Fans of Lebanese cuisine, you’ve got to wait a little bit longer before sampling the delicacies of the Middle East in Mattapoisett.

Lebanese Kitchen owner Nabih Moujabber says it could be spring before the restaurant opens in its new location on Route 6.

Several years ago, Moujabber’s home and his original restaurant burned down in New Bedford. Now, he says issues with clearing the remnants of the building are keeping him from focusing on renovations in Mattapoisett.

Moujabber said he’s been to court several times over the issues in New Bedford and has a contractor ready to start clearing the area. It will likely be a few weeks before he can focus on Mattapoisett again, but the restaurateur said most of the building is ready.

“We’re seventy-five percent done,” he said. “It’s looking good, but we need to get a few things straightened out in New Bedford. Hopefully we will have peace of mind.”
