Mattapoisett Recreation's junior high basketball season ended a great season with many close games on March 8.

The UCONN team, coached by Kevin LaGasse, defeated the Kentucky Wildcats, coached by Dan Jones, Andrew Bischel and Caleb Jagoda, in the finals.

It was a tough game for the Wildcats with early foul trouble and injuries.

Across the league, the teams were coached by adult volunteers from all three towns and four high school student volunteers.

The second grade basketball teams also finished up their season recently. The Tar Heels, coached by Neil Oliveira defeated the Kentucky Wildcats coached by Sarabeth Morrell.
