Dark clouds and wet weather were no deterrent to Marion Village 5k runners on Saturday, June 24.

The race set off sharply at 9 a.m., winding through Marion Center before arriving at Tabor Academy's Fireman Center. Despite the consistent rain (which occasionally developed into a full-on downpour), spectators still came out to call support, hoisting umbrellas and ducking under door frames.

Andrew Sukeforth of Middleboro finished far ahead of the field, reaching the finish line of the 3.2 mile race with a time of 16:04. Behind him were Michael Vaz of Dartmouth and Ryan O'Connell of Middleboro, with times of 16:26 and 16:31 respectively.

The top female finisher was Heather Mahoney of Westford, with a time of 19:36.

The tri-town's top finisher was Fred Warburg of Marion, who stopped the clock at 18:59. Emily Josephson of Rochester was the tri-town's top female runner - she ended the race in 18th place, with a time of 20:33.

Camri Vanness of Rochester topped the Female 1-13 division with a time of 28:40. Evan Tilley of Rochester commanded the Male - High School division in 19:01. Isabelle Cheney of Marion topped the Female - High School division with a time of 22:00.

Other top finishes from the tri-town included Curtis Moreira and Danielle Murray of Marion. Moreira topped the Male Masters (40-49) with a time of 20:50, while Murray swept the Female 50 - 59 division in 26:29.

James Lanagan of Mattapoisett was the oldest competitor in the race, at 80. He took second in the Male Grand Master (70-99) division, stopping the clock at 40:00.
