Boys soccer triumphs, volleyball falls in sectional championships

It’s championship season for the tri- town’s high school sports teams, several of whom are beginning runs in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association state championships. Over the last week, the varsity boys' soccer team triumphed as the Old Rochester and Old Colony volleyball teams fell. Here’s where the temas currently stand in the playoffs, who they’ll face off against next, and where you can watch them.

Football

The Old Rochester Bulldogs will face off against Middleboro in the South Division 6 championships on Friday, November 10 beginning at 7 p.m. at Old Rochester.

The Old Colony Cougars lost to Sacred Heart High School in the first round of the South Division 8 championships, 8-20.

Soccer

The Old Rochester boys’ varsity will face off against Norwell at Taunton High School in the semifinals of the South Division 3 championship on Wednesday, November 8. They defeated Sandwich 2-1 in the quarterfinals.

The Old Rochester girls’ varsity soccer team lost to Scituate in the first round of the South Division 2 playoffs, 2-4.

Volleyball

The ORR girls’ varsity team lost to Greater New Bedford Regional Technical High School in the first round of the South Division 2 playoffs.

Old Colony’s girls’ varsity team lost to Case High School in the  first round of South Division 3 championship.

Cross Country

Twenty cross country runners are set to represent Old Rochester at the East Division 4 championships in Wrentham on Saturday, November 11.

Girls: Samantha Ball, Jaqueline Barrett, Emma Blouin, Tova Brickley, Sydney Green, Amelia Isabelle, Kelsea Kidney, Rosemary Loer, Madisen Martin and Caroline Thomas.

Boys: Chandler Goulart, Patrick Janicki, Tyler Kulak, Sean Lally, Geoffrey Noonan, Jahn Pothier, Owen Shaughnessy, Gabe Shriver, Adam Sylvia and Evan Tilley.
