Marion man involved in fatal pedestrian crash

A Marion man fatally struck a fleeing pedestrian on Route 24 in Bridgewater on the night of December 24.

According to a press release from the Massachusetts State Police, state troopers responded to the accident around 9:20 p.m.

Darkeem Kelow, 26, of Boston was operating a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox when his vehicle, for reasons still under investigation, struck a 2004 Honda Civic also traveling southbound. A male passenger in the Honda Civic sustained an injury and was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton.

According to the press release, Kelow exited his vehicle and ran onto the northbound side of the highway, where he was struck by a Ford Escape driven by an unidentified man from Marion.

The driver of the Ford Escape was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation from the Middleborough Police Baracks, the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section (CARS) and State Police Crime Scene Services (CSSS).

State Police were assisted by Bridgewater EMS, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (DOT).
