Marion election fields remain small

Mar 7, 2018

Marion's election nominations will close on Monday, March 26, and several fields remain small, or even without candidates.

Two positions on Marion's Planning Board also need to be filled; a one-year term and a three-year term. Andrew Daniel, the incumbent of the one-year term, has taken out papers to return to his seat, but there are currently no candidates for the three-year term currently held by Jennifer Francis, who has stated that she won't return to her position when her term expires.

There are currently two selectman seats on the ballot; a three-year term and a one-year term. Resident Randy Parker has turned in nomination papers for the three-year position, alongside Michelle Ouellette-Smith.  Former financial analyst John Waterman, and former Marion Emergency Management Director W. Dale Jones have taken out papers for the one-year term.

In addition, other positions available are a one-year position as Town Moderator, and three-year terms on the Board of Assessors, Board of Health, Marion School Committee, and the Marion Open Space and Acquisitions Committee.

Election papers are available at the Town Clerk’s office.

Candidates’ Night will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, at Marion's Music Hall, and town elections will be held on May 18.
