Acushnet resident charged with Ned's Point stabbing

Acushnet resident Cory Furtado, 18, was arrested in connection with the stabbing at Ned’s Point Lighthouse on April 24.

According to Mattapoisett Police, Furtado and the victim had arranged to meet for a drug transaction at the lighthouse. The two allegedly fought and Furtado stabbed the victim with a knife in the hand and neck, police said. The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by Marion EMS where he was treated and released.

Mattapoisett officers arrested Furtado at his home with the help of Acushnet police on Friday, April 27. He is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and attempted murder. He is being held at the Plymouth County House of Correction on $10,000 bail and will be arraigned in Wareham District Court on Monday.
