Mattapoisett reopens Town Hall to public
MATTAPOISETT — After closing to the public for nine weeks, Town Hall is now open to the public in a socially-safe fashion from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“I think these hours will work wonders for the town,” said Town Administrator Michael Lorenco, adding that staff are still available by phone or email from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Residents looking to buy a beach pass with the town clerk or pay taxes with the treasurer can consult them from a walk-up window outside to maintain social distancing.
Officials can meet residents in Town Hall by appointment as long as both wear a mask inside.. Discussions can be scheduled online or over the phone.
The town’s Free Public Library and Council on Aging facility will open at a later date.
To further protect residents, the Board of Selectmen will be sending a letter to all businesses in town asking them to adhere to safety guidelines and reminding them that the board can impose fines and seek court orders to correct non-compliant businesses.
