April activities at the Marion Council on Aging

MARION — Marion Council on Aging activities are back this April, from an Opening Day lunch to strength, conditioning, meditation and Zumba classes.

On April 1, the Council on Aging will offer a grab ’n go lunch for the Opening Day of baseball, serving hot dogs, baked beans, coleslaw, chips, pickles & root beer. Those interested must call 508-748-3570 to register for the lunch by March 26. If weather permits, there may be some outdoor dining space available. 

Other grab ’n go lunches will be held on April 8, 15, 22 and 29. 

Podiatrist Dr. Erik Henriksen and Dental Hygienists Teresa Simison and Andrea Read will be visiting the Council on Aging in April. To schedule an appointment, call 508-748-3570 for Henriksen and 508-827-6725 for Simison and Read. 

Marion Public Health Nurse Lori Desmarais is available on Wednesdays from 1-3p.m. for roune immunizaons, blood pressure and blood sugar readings,  as well as home visits. She can be contacted at 508-748-3507 or ldesmarais@marionma.gov.

Regular programming is also returning to the council in April. 

On April 8 and 22 from 1-2 p.m., the Council on Aging will host a memory loss support group for those caring for someone who struggles with memory loss. 

On Wednesdays from 1-2 p.m., the council will host Memory Cafe, where those who suffer from memory loss can participate in programming with  their care partner, family or friends in a safe and engaging environment.

Other programming throughout the month includes yoga on Mondays, strength and conditioning and meditation on Tuesdays, and Zumba and strength and conditioning on Fridays. 

Additionally, “Living Your Best Life,” a program for those who would like to learn how to become stronger and more resilient, will be offered on April 12 and 26 at 1 p.m.
