Old Rochester volleyball coach celebrates 100th career win
“For me, it’s just a number, which I hope is just the beginning of many more wins to come,” said Oliveira. “But it was special to get number 100 with this group of kids, and against a respected [and] quality opponent like Dennis Yarmouth.”
According to Oliveira, he started playing volleyball as a student at New Bedford High School. He has been coaching for 12 years, and has coached Old Rochester varsity girls volleyball for seven years.
“I have to give credit to all the student athletes that I’ve been privileged to coach, as they’ve all played a huge part in our program's success,” he said. “This number shows all of their hard work over the past 7 years.”
The girls varsity volleyball team’s next game will be against Seekonk High School on Monday, Sept. 18 at Old Rochester Regional High School.
