Detectives on deck: Mattapoisett Police investigate mystery boat

MATTAPOISETT —- Oh ship! An unknown boat was abandoned on the side of Wolf Island Road on Thursday, Oct. 9 between 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. in Mattapoisett.

Mattapoisett Police are investigating the case and attempting to identify the owner.

According to the department’s Facebook page,  there’s visible evidence of an individual “intentionally” attempting to remove the hull identification number.

“Before removal and storage fees mount, we hope the owner will come forward. If not, they may face substantial fees and possible criminal charges,” said the police department’s Facebook post.

The police department were not available to comment on the case at the time of publication.
