MATTAPOISETT — A dump truck crashed off the side of Interstate 195 early Thursday morning, trapping the driver.
The Mattapoisett Fire Department arrived at the crash near westbound mile marker 30 at around 2 a.m. on Oct. 15 and rescued the trapped driver.
Firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to cut through the vehicle and remove the person trapped inside. They were then transported by Mattapoisett Police EMS.
The dump truck had been fully loaded with asphalt and veered off the road into the woods.
Several fire department vehicles stayed on the scene to address a fuel spill and additional hazards while heavy-duty wreckers removed the truck.
