Elizabeth Taber Library Welcomes new young adult librarian

MARION — The Elizabeth Taber Library recently hired a new young adult librarian.

Alex Correia joined the library this month after earning his Master’s of library and information science and working in several libraries.

Correia discovered his passion for teen services while interning at the Medway Public Library, where he helped plan and host many community programs, helped with makerspace activities, and was involved in the summer reading program.

He also brings experience supporting students from his most recent work at the Bristol Community College Library.

He has been tasked with reinvigorating the library’s teen programming and providing teens new opportunities to connect, learn and explore their interests. Residents aged 13-18 are encouraged to look out for upcoming programs.

Correia will also support the library’s teen volunteer program, offering opportunities to earn volunteer hours while becoming more involved in the library community, and expanding the library’s collection.

“We are so lucky to have Alex joining the team,” library Director Kayla King said. “His enthusiasm, education and experience made him a great choice for this role, and I am confident that he will be a strong asset to the library and town.”
