Festivities and fun at the Mattapoisett library for teens and adults
MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Free Public Library, 7 Barstow St., has announced its summer lineup of adult and teen programs.
Adult craft. An Adult Craft Workshop will be held July 21 at 6 p.m., where participants will make a cat-themed diamond art coaster. All materials will be provided, and registration is required.
Dog painting. A dog painting event will be held July 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dogs can create paintings using a lick-painting technique.
Registration is optional, but leashes are required. More information is available on the library's website.
Movie night. A Sunset Cinema movie showing will be held on the library lawn Tuesday, July 28, at 6 p.m. "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" will be shown, with a run time around two hours.
The event is open to all ages, and attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and snacks. No registration is required.
Tech workshop. A Senior Technology Workshop on misinformation in media will be held July 30 at 10:30 a.m.
The presentation is sponsored by the library, Old Rochester Regional High School and the North Attleboro Senior Tech Program.
Free technology help will be available afterward. No registration is required.
Origami. An origami workshop on folding a paper lobster will be held July 30 at 3 p.m., led by instructor Betsy.
The program is designed for ages 16 and up and requires registration. Beginners are welcome.
Picnic Book Club. The Picnic Book Club will meet July 31 at 10 a.m. on the library's front lawn for discussion, pastries and light beverages.
Participants are asked to bring a book they are currently reading. Registration is required.
Plant swap. A plant swap will be held Aug. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Participants can bring healthy, pest-free plants to trade. Plants should be easy to carry, properly potted and labeled by type, if possible. No registration is required.
Teen summer reading. Teen summer reading lists are also available at the library. Students entering grades 7-12 can select prizes for each book read from their assigned list and reviewed.
Video games. A Teen Video Game Takeover will be held July 21 from 3 to 5 p.m., using the library's PlayStation and Switch consoles.
The event is for grades 6 and up, and no registration is required.
Raffle. A raffle for a themed gift basket will be held in connection with an author talk by Jennifer Mason-Black.
Teens can earn raffle tickets by reading and reviewing the book "Sometimes the Girl," recommending it to others, or attending related programs, including a craft workshop to create a junk journal and a book club discussion of the novel.
The raffle winner will be announced at the author talk, scheduled for Aug. 8 at 2 p.m.
