Filmmakers to document legacy of Nolan Gibbons at 6th annual NolanFest
Event Date
MARION — For the sixth iteration of NolanFest, documentary filmmakers from Los Angeles, California will travel to Marion to attend and film the festival.
Held Saturday, June 27 from 4-9 p.m. at Silvershell Beach, the free event will honor the life and legacy of Nolan Gibbons, a 15-year-old from Marion who died suddenly in 2020.
The resulting documentary will tell the story of Nolan’s life, talent and impact and how his legacy inspired the creation of the Nolan Gibbons Memorial Fund. The fund has awarded more than $60,000 to over 45 artists nationally and internationally.
Acts at this year’s festival will include Hyannis Sound, The Bradley Playhouse, The Showstoppers, The New Bedford Festival Theatre, Break-a-Leg Theatreworks, South Shore Conservatory and Saint James and the Heretics. Scholarship and grant recipients will also perform.
There will be food and raffle tickets for sale, along with artisan booths and family-friendly activities.
NolanFest is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets and are invited to make a donation to support the Fund’s mission. Volunteer opportunities are also available for individuals, families, and students seeking community service hours.
