Front Street sidewalk project will begin on Oct. 19

MARION — The Marion Department of Public Works will begin sidewalk reconstruction improvements on Front Street on Monday, Oct. 19.

The project will span from 182 Front St. to the intersection of Front Street and Vine Street.

The contractor, Hatch Landscape and Design, will first complete the section from Cottage Street to 182 Front St. The project will then continue from Cottage Street to Vine Street.

Sections of sidewalk, approximately 200 feet in length at a time, will be closed to pedestrian traffic. The driving lane adjacent to the sidewalk section will also be closed during active construction.

Alternating direction traffic will be permitted through the open traffic lane through police instruction.

The department requests residents to obey all police directions and not park vehicles along the road during the construction period.

Driveway access will be maintained throughout the project, although with potential small delays.

Parking on Front Street will be limited during construction.

Construction hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

The project is anticipated to wrap up by Thanksgiving. The schedule and completion of work is subject to weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances.
