Judith (Hagemann) Mazurkiewicz, 81

Judith (Hagemann) Mazurkiewicz, 81, of Brunswick, NY, passed on August 17, 2026. A native of Marion, and born in 1944, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Libby Hagemann. She is survived by Joe, her husband of 62 years; her sisters, Janice Gardner of Wellesley, MA, and Nancy Rheaume of Bradford, MA; and two nephews.

Judy was in the first graduating class (1962) of Old Rochester Regional High School and attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She worked most of her life as a librarian at several college and university libraries, and then for 25 years at the Emma Willard School Library (Troy, NY), from which she retired.

Judy married Joseph Mazurkiewicz on January 23, 1964; after living in several areas of the U.S., they settled in Brunswick in 1978.

Although she had lived in Eastern New York for many years, she always considered herself a “New England Yankee” at heart. Growing up in Marion, she missed the ocean and always enjoyed going back each year for visits. She enjoyed travelling around much of the U.S. and especially in England and Ireland. She had lived in several New England states as well as Arizona and Colorado. Judy was devoted to her Irish Wolfhounds and was very active in her breed’s clubs; she was a Past-President of the Irish Wolfhound Association of New England. She loved all animals including several cats that she had over the years. Her hobbies included knitting, gardening, reading, and genealogy, and she always had a keen interest in politics and current affairs.
