MARION — Take a long walk through the forest to visit a 19th century cellar hole that once was the home of Solomon Smith, a formerly enslaved person.
The walk will be about 4 or 5 miles long, through less-used trails where visitors can see some of Marion’s least-disturbed forest habitats. It will begin at Hoff parking lot at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 16.
Spring conditions, including mud, wet areas and early growth, are likely. Sturdy shoes or boots are recommended.
Registration is required, and registered participants will be alerted in case of weather-related changes.
