Two new Rochester police officers sworn in at Select Board
ROCHESTER — Two new patrol officers, Scott Robbins and Jason Arthurs were sworn into the Rochester Police Department.
Robbins was sworn in as a full-time officer and Arthurs was sworn in as a reserve officer at a Rochester Select Board meeting on Monday, May 4.
Rochester Police Chief Michael Assad recommended both officers to the Select Board and both were unanimously appointed.
Robbins’ experience includes patrol operations, canine operations, criminal investigations and evidence collection.
“Robbins presents a strong and well-rounded law enforcement background that makes him exceptionally qualified for patrol services in the town of Rochester,” Assad said.
Assad said Robbins has demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment and an ability to perform in stressful environments.
Arthurs has 29 years of experience in law enforcement. He has been a patrol officer and crime scene investigator.
He recently retired from the Barnstable County Sheriff's department where he worked as a criminal investigator.
Arthurs will be focused on traffic control as a reserve officer in the department.
“[Arthurs] has the skills that are directly aligned with the needs of our department, particularly for a Reserve Officer, directing traffic,” Assad said.
Assad said Arthurs’ knowledge, professionalism and integrity strengthen the department and its operational capabilities.
“At a time when recruitment and retention remain ongoing challenges in law enforcement, the opportunity to bring on a highly experienced, recently retired professional in a reserve capacity is invaluable,” Assad said.
