Marion Concert Band opens season with Independence Day Concert
MARION - The Marion Concert Band will open its 2026 concert season Friday, July 3, with a program of patriotic music celebrating the 250th anniversary of American independence.
The concert, under the direction of Tobias Monte, will be held at Silvershell Beach and begins at 8 p.m. The evening will conclude with the town's fireworks display.
The program will include National Emblem March by E.E. Bagley, Esprit de Corps by R. Jager, American Pageant by T. Knox, God Bless America by I. Berlin, American Civil War Fantasy by J. Bilik, The Homefront: Musical Memories from World War II arranged by J. Christensen, Armed Forces Salute arranged by B. Lowden, America, the Beautiful by S. Ward, 1812 Overture (finale) by P. Tchaikovsky, and The Stars and Stripes Forever by J.P. Sousa.
The band's Friday evening concert series continues July 10, with performances every Friday at 7 p.m. at the Robert Broomhead Bandstand, Island Wharf, off Front Street in Marion. All concerts are free and open to the public.
