Marion town government closures and Christmas tree disposal

MARION — The Marion Town House Annex will be closed at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 31, and Thursday, Jan. 1. 

The Water, Sewer and Highway Departments, including the Administrative Office, will close at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31 and Thursday, Jan. 1. 

Waste Management collection for Friday, Jan 2 will be delayed by one day. Collection will happen on Saturday, Jan 3. 

The Benson Brook Transfer Station will close at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 31.

Curbside Christmas tree collection will be offered during the week of Jan. 5 through Jan. 9. 

All trees must be curbside by 7 a.m. on the day of regular rubbish collection. 

Ensure rubbish containers are not blocked by leaving no less than 5 feet of clearance on each side.

Trees will be collected by the Department of Public Works not Waste Management.

Marion residents, with a valid Transfer Station Sticker, can also dispose of their trees at the Transfer Station on Wednesdays and Saturdays between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. through Jan. 10. 

Trees in plastic bags or with ornaments will not be accepted curbside or at the transfer station.
