The fire burned on Cross Neck Road. MARION — A vehicle fire occurred between 143 Cross Neck Road and 112 Cross Neck Road in Marion over the weekend.
The Marion Fire Department and Police Department responded to a call of a car fire on Saturday, Feb. 7 around 8:15 p.m. The driver was uninjured and not in the vehicle during the fire.
Marion Fire Chief Brian Jackvony said an Amazon delivery van caught fire after being stuck in the snow.
Getting to the vehicle was difficult due to snow and weather. Most of Cross Neck Road is privately owned so the road was unplowed.
The cause of the fire is still being determined. Jackvony said he assumes it to be a mechanical malfunction.
“I'm not sure what the malfunction was but it was definitely a mechanical malfunction,” Jackvony said.
The gasoline powered Amazon van was removed from the area.
