indoors, but for Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School’s parent-teacher organization, it was a day to celebrate the season by welcoming families to a day of games, activities, crafts and food.
“We try to bring things in for everybody of all ages... and we try to keep it affordable,” said PTO President Debra Quin.
The event had tables from groups like Boy Scouts, the South Coast LGBTQ+ Network and the National Guard, as well as a photo booth.
New additions to the event included a rock climbing wall and a mechanical bull. The school also accepted donations for the Old Colony Food Bank.
“We’re letting people know that they are not alone out here,” said KJ Almeida from the LGBTQ+ Network. “This [event] provides visibility. We have a bunch of flags on our table. Just having people know that there are others like them out here helps people feel less alone... We want to provide a safe space for LGBT folks and their allies of all ages.”
Chuck Vieira has been operating the photo booth from Ensemble Events every year since the festival’s inaugural event.
“I work with the [PTO] for a lot of events,” Vieira said. “People love photo booths. It’s a big hit at all the events...They get a photo strip, and they can have a memory of the Fall Festival.”
