Orange you glad it’s hunting season
MATTAPOISETT — Shotgun hunting season began at the start of the month, and hunters are urged to take safety precautions.
The season opened Dec. 1 and will run until Dec. 13.
Licensed hunters may use Mattapoisett Land Trust lands and trails during this time. Hunters are subject to all applicable laws and regulations.
This is the peak of hunting activity, so heightened vigilance is needed when on trails.
Visitors during hunting season should wear blaze orange on their head, back or chest and stay on marked trails. Pets should also be adorned in orange during the season.
Hunters are most active in the early morning and late afternoon. There is no hunting on Sundays.
Hunters must be cautious, aware and respectful of all property users. Tree stands must be removed at the end of the season. Please contact info@mattlandtrust.org with any further questions.
