St. Philip’s to conclude its 141st summer season

Aug 26, 2025

MATTAPOISETT — St. Philip’s Episcopal Church will conclude its summer visiting clergy services on Sunday, Aug. 31, with the Reverend Jeffrey Paull Cave conducting the service.

Cave has been a visiting clergy at St. Philip’s for 50 years, with the Aug. 31 service set to be his last visit.

There will be services at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. and will use the 1928 Book of Common Prayer.

At 4 p.m., Cave and the organist of St. Stephen’s Church in Providence will lead the congregation in an informal, old-fashioned Hymn Sing. Hymns are introduced along with their history, and the congregation is encouraged to request their favorites.

All are welcome to attend both events.
