What to know for Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 5

Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 5 is fast approaching as voters nationwide will elect a new president.

In the Tri-Town, voters will additionally mark choices for senator, selecting between incumbent Democrat Elizabeth Warren or Republican challenger John Deaton, and representative, selecting between incumbent Democrat Bill Keating or Republican challenger Dan Sullivan. 

Tri-Town voters will also elect a new state representative for the first time in more than 30 years, deciding between Republican Joe Pires and Democrat Mark Sylvia to replace incumbent Democrat Bill Straus. 

Marion voters will make their picks for a new state senator to replace longtime incumbent Democrat Marc Pacheco, deciding between Republican Kelly Dooner, Democrat Joe Pacheco and independent Jim Dupont.

Candidates for councillor, clerk of courts, register of deeds and county commissioner are also on the ballot.

Voters across Massachusetts will decide five ballot questions.

Question one, if passed, would specify that the state auditor has the authority to audit the state legislature.

Question two, if passed, would eliminate passing Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System exams as a graduation requirement for high school students.

Question three, if passed, would allow transportation network drivers, like Uber or Lyft drivers, to unionize.

Question four, if passed, would legalize natural psychedelics — psilocybin, psilocyn, dimethyltryptamine, mescaline and ibogaine.

Question five, if passed, would raise the minimum wage for tipped workers to $15 and allow tips to be pooled with all employees.

Early voting in the Tri-Town continues until Friday, Nov. 1.

In Marion, early voting is available at the Marion Town House, 2 Spring St., from 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. through Thursday, Oct. 31 and from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1.

In Mattapoisett, early voting is available at town hall, 16 Main St., until Friday, Nov. 1 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In Rochester, early voting is available at town hall, 1 Constitution Way, until Thursday, Oct. 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

On Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5, voting begins at 7 a.m and ends at 8 p.m. 

Marion residents vote at the Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center, 465 Mill St.

Mattapoisett residents vote at Old Hammondtown School, 20 Shaw St. 

Rochester residents vote at the Rochester Senior Center, 67 Dexter Lane.
