CHICAGO — Cat Barry of Tabor Academy has been named the 2018-19 Gatorade Massachusetts Girls Soccer Player of the Year.

The 6-foot junior forward, originally from Hingham, led the Seawolves to a 15-2-2 record and the New England Prep School Athletic Council Class B tournament championship this past season.

She recorded 33 goals and 11 assists, including a pair of scores in a 4-3 shootout win over Thayer Academy in the NEPSAC tournament final.

Barry was named the Independent School League Offensive Player of the Year and a United Soccer Coaches’ All-American selection.

She concluded her junior year with 61 goals and 32 assists in her prep soccer career.

The tabor academy athlete is the school’s first Gatorade Massachusetts Girls Soccer Player of the Year.

The award recognizes a player with both outstanding athletic excellence and high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character on and off the field.

Barry has maintained an A-minus average in the classroom, is the head tour guide at Tabor, and has volunteered locally as a peer tutor.

She has made a verbal commitment to play soccer on scholarship at the University of South Carolina in fall 2020.
