Adult and Teen Events at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library
MATTAPOISETT — Step into the summer swing at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library, located at 7 Barstow Street with adult and teen events happening throughout the summer.
Crafting clubs. The Weaving Wednesdays club will start on June 17 at 4 p.m., and all fiber artists are welcome. The Sewing and Maker club will meet on June 20 at 10 a.m.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own projects and supplies, excluding messy crafts.
Massage workshop. Join area massage therapist, Steven McIntyre, for an educational workshop on connective tissue, also known as fascia, on Saturday, June 20 at 2 p.m.
Learn what fascia is, how it works, how it can hinder movement and cause pain or tension, and how to keep it healthy.
Quill and ink. Celebrate America's 250th year with a Quill & Ink Program taught by Martha Washington, portrayed by Sandy Spector, on June 23 at 2 p.m.
Learn about the history of quill & ink writing, and then participants can try it themselves.

Abigail Adams. Continue celebrating America's 250th with Abigail Adams, portrayed by Audrey Stuck-Girard, for a living history program about the Adams family during the revolution. This event will be at the library on June 24 at 5:30 p.m. and no registration is required.
Book clubs. Try out one of the library’s book clubs this summer. The Well-Read Wednesdays Book Group will meet on June 24 at 6 p.m. to discuss “Eve: How the Female Body Drove 200 Million Years of Human Evolution,” by Cat Bohannon. Copies will be available at the library.
The library is also launching a new Picnic Book Club Series. Gather on the front lawn of the library on June 26 at 1 p.m. for a literary conversation and light snacks and beverages.
Participants can bring a book of their choice and come ready to discuss. Please register on the library’s website to participate.
Calligraphy presentation. Professional calligrapher, Debby Reelitz, will host a hands-on program, "Calligraphy that inspired a nation: learn to write like America’s founders," on June 30 at 6:30 p.m. Learn about calligraphy and then participants can try it for themselves.

Author talk. Author Eric Jay Dolin is speaking at the library on July 1 at 5:30 p.m.
Dolin will discuss his 2022 publication, "Rebels at Sea: Privateering in the American Revolution," followed by a Q&A with attendees.
